Q4 Press has been designed with compatibility of MS Word in mind. Whether you choose to start by uploading a Word doc, or prefer to copy and paste content in Q4 Press from Word either way provides a predictable method of getting your content into the system.As well, if you prefer during the process of working with Press you can always export a draft version of the document to Word to continue working with and then paste you edits back into Q4 Press for submission to the author.Finally as an author you can export a clean copy of the document at any point.More details on these features can be found below.

Uploading

When a new press release or document is created you have the ability to upload a word document. When it is uploaded it automatically converts to the native format or Q4 Press which is HTML.More details on how the document gets converted can be found in the post Working with Word Docs.

Copying and Pasting

If you have content that is currently in Word document you can also copy the content in Word, including tables and other types of formatting and then paste it into Word. When you paste it into Q4 Press all of the critical formatting such as tables, line breaks and bolding will be maintained. However there may be other formatting that is automatically “cleaned by Q4 Press. More details on how the document gets converted can be found in the post Working with Word Docs.

Exporting Drafts

All authors and reviewers have the ability to export a working draft of the document to Word at any point. Within the editor there is a icon that is labeled “draft”. When selected this exports a working version of the document to Word. Included in this file is a wording “Confidential “as a watermark along with a header that includes details of who exported the document and at what time.

Exporting Final

Authors have the additional option to export a final version of the document to Word. Within the editor there is a icon that is labeled “final”. When selected this exports a working version of the document to Word. This is a clean copy of the document with no watermark or header information included.
