How to view all the items in your task-list

One of the great many features of Q4 PRESS is the ability to easily view and merge document changes from multiple people through a simple interface.  As an Author, you have the ability to view all the pending document feedback in your task list.

After you have completed working with a Reviewers changes by clicking “I’m finished with this item” you can still go back and view the Reviewers notes or edits.  The default view is to show only unhandled edits and feedback when you are viewing a document:

You’ll notice there is a ’show removed’ check-box at the bottom of your task list.  If you want to check a previous edit or comment from a Reviewer, simply click that check-box and you’ll see all edits and comments for the current phase:

The green check-mark on the item in your task list shows that you’ve already finished working with those changes but you still have access to view those previous changes and can incorporate them into your document.

As you can see by the lack of recent posts, we’ve been head down working hard executing on the great client feedback we received during the Q4 PRESS beta trial through the month of December 2007.

In January we officially, albeit quietly, launched Q4 PRESS 1.0 and the whole team at Q4 is very proud of all the hard work and late nights that happened during the last 8 - 10 months.

The greatest piece of feedback we received from clients during the BETA is that they wanted the ability to quickly and easily invite co-workers to collaborate on documents.  For the folks who have used Q4 PRESS already, you’ll notice a new fancy splash screen after you login that gives you the ability to quickly and easily invite other people to begin collaborating on press releases and other regulatory documents.

We also added a new Supervisor role.  The Supervisor has additional rights not available in other roles such as:

  • Ability to view all users who are involved in each press release
  • Ability to view all press releases in any state (finalized, in progress, canceled)
  • Ability to destroy a finalized or canceled press release
  • Instant notification when a new press release is started

We will be posting more details surrounding this new role as well as a whole host of other features that have been added.

We thank everyone who contributed to the launch of Q4 PRESS and we’re looking forward to the future!

Our recent update of Q4 Press includes a new feature for Authors named Finalize. This is the step you’ll take when your press release requires no further changes and you have obtained the approvals that you require to send the press release to the wire. When you Finalize a press release it becomes read only and no further changes can be made. Read the complete Post.

Working with Word formatting –Tabs vs. Tables

When working with Word documents there is a formatting trick that is sometimes used to mimic what looks like a table. Instead of creating a table and putting content into two separate cells you can use tabs to push words to the right or left and give the content the look of being in a table.

The problem with this is when imported into Q4 Press the tabs are lost due to the word document being converted to HTML which doesn’t have any way to display a “tab”. Read the complete Post.

Thank you for being a part of the Q4 Press Beta! As the Program Manager for Q4 Press, I can tell you that this is a very exciting time for Q4 Web Systems as we prepare for the launch of Q4 Press. Q4 Press is designed to compliment our already widely successful Q4 Web Content Management System to improve your Risk Management and Efficiency as it relates to corporate disclosure.

The concept of Q4 Press is very simple. Increase your efficiency and reduce risk. Sounds simple enough, but let’s take a closer look regarding how Q4 Press delivers.
